Cookery at Collaton St Mary

At Collaton St Mary Primary our children are taught to cook and apply the principles of nutrition and healthy eating. We instil a love of cooking in pupils which opens the door to great expression and creativity. Take a look at our gallery to see the children getting hands on and learning through doing!

Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables pupils to feed themeselves and others affordably and well - now and in later life.

As you can see, cookery and nutrition links to many areas of the curriculum. Cookery adds another dimension to children's learning through various exciting topic work.

Our children are taught to cook by our award winning kitchen manager Sam Ward.  She is a 2014 nominee for the Educatering Awards has won the Devon Life School Meals Gold Award (2012) and is Taste of the West Gold Award winner in 2014.  Throughout the year our children, their families and our community enjoy seasonal food events.
