Our School Meals

Our school meals are very important to us. We believe that nutritious food helps the children grow healthily in mind and body.

We are a ‘Food for Life’ flagship school, and have been awarded the bronze, silver and prestigious gold award. This means that all our school meals are nutritionally balanced, and sustainable. Many of the ingredients that we use are locally sourced and organic. Our local partners include Complete Meats from Axminster, Riverford Dairy and Total Produce for our fruit and vegetables, who have access to over 45 local farms.

Our children learn about where their food comes from, and grow their own vegetables in the kitchen garden. They have regular opportunities to prepare food and cook, as many of our curriculum topics have links to food. In addition to this we also hold the following awards for our school meals:

Devon Life Award

Taste of the West for Local Foods in Schools

EDUCATERING of Excellence

BBC Food & Farming Finalist

Good Egg Award

Free School Meals
Under the Government Universal Infant Free School Meals Scheme, children in Reception and Years 1 and 2 are entitled to a hot meal free of charge. Children in Years 3 - 6 are required to pay for meals unless parents are in receipt of a means tested benefit and have registered for free school meals. A 'meal' is a main meal with vegetables, a dessert and a drink.
Our school meals cost £2.20 per child and these can be ordered and paid for via ParentPay
